MANILA – The easterlies will continue affecting Luzon and the Visayas on Friday, bringing generally fair weather with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) cautioned the public against possible flash floods and landslides caused by severe thunderstorms.
A low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored by PAGASA was spotted about 940 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao at 3 a.m. Friday, still within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Although the weather disturbance has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, its trough is expected to dump scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and the Davao Region.
PAGASA warned residents in affected areas to remain alert as moderate to heavy rains could cause flooding and landslides.
Elsewhere in Mindanao, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are likely due to localized thunderstorm activity.
The entire archipelago will also continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions, PAGASA said.
