MANILA, Philippines — Vico Sotto has appointed former International Criminal Court judge Raul Pangalangan as the founding dean of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig School of Law.
Pangalangan is widely known for his expertise in public international law and constitutional law and previously served as dean of the UP College of Law.
During his time at the ICC, Pangalangan took part in major cases involving attacks on cultural and religious heritage, as well as cases linked to child soldiers, forced marriages, and sexual slavery.
He is also a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, Netherlands, where he serves as chairman of the Philippine National Group.
In his message, Pangalangan expressed hope that the new law school would become a “beacon of hope” amid the many challenges facing the country today.
Joining him in the school’s leadership are lawyer Peter John Javier as vice dean for academics and lawyer Josephine Lati-Bagaoisan as acting vice dean for administration.
