Pop icon Britney Spears has checked herself into a rehabilitation facility after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Los Angeles last March.
Authorities from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Spears was taken into custody in early March but was released the following day. She is expected to appear in court on May 4 in connection with the incident.
According to her representative, the singer is taking responsibility for the situation and is prepared to comply with legal requirements. The statement described the arrest as “unacceptable” but expressed hope that it would mark the beginning of meaningful personal change.
The representative also emphasized that Spears is receiving support from her loved ones, including her children, as she undergoes treatment. A structured plan is reportedly being arranged to help her focus on long-term well-being.
This is not the first time Spears has entered rehab. She previously sought treatment in 2007 and 2008 during a highly publicized period marked by personal struggles and a custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Following her hospitalization in 2008, Spears was placed under a conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, which controlled her financial and personal affairs. Intended as a temporary arrangement, it lasted for years and sparked the global #FreeBritney movement before it was terminated in September 2021.
