MANILA — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continues to lead all government agencies in public approval, securing the highest rating in the latest PAHAYAG survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia.
According to TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez, the agency has now held the top position for 14 consecutive quarters, a feat he attributed to its sustained delivery of programs and services.
Survey data showed TESDA earning a 65 percent approval rating and a 45 percent trust score, reinforcing the public’s confidence in its technical-vocational education and training (TVET) initiatives.
Benitez said TESDA intensified efforts in the first quarter by rolling out new and enhanced programs. Among these is the TESDA Skills Passport, a digital system that allows workers to document their skills and credentials for easier verification by potential employers.
The agency also expanded collaboration with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education to better synchronize education pathways, from basic schooling to higher education and technical training.
TESDA likewise provided free competency assessments to senior high school graduates, with a target of assessing over 260,000 students this year in partnership with DepEd.
Benitez stressed that these initiatives are geared toward narrowing the gap between education and job opportunities, while strengthening ties with industry partners and other government institutions.
