MANILA — The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are expected to bring cloudy skies and intermittent rains over several parts of the country on Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Metro Manila, La Union, Pangasinan, Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
The ITCZ, meanwhile, will bring similar weather conditions over Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the Davao Region.
PAGASA warned residents in affected areas to remain vigilant, as moderate to heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods and landslides.
Elsewhere in the country, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected due to the combined effects of the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms may also cause flooding or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Across the archipelago, winds will remain light to moderate, while coastal waters are expected to stay slight to moderate.
