MANILA, Philippines — Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo led Supreme Court officials in a two-day visit to Fortinet’s headquarters in Sunnyvale, California, to examine emerging technologies that could bolster the Judiciary’s digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.
The Sept. 29-30 engagement covered artificial intelligence, network protection, cloud security, threat intelligence and other tools aimed at shielding judicial information from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Associate Justices Jose Midas P. Marquez and Raul B. Villanueva joined Gesmundo, along with Chief Technology Officer Atty. Jed Sherwin Uy and other court officials and technical personnel.
The SC delegation presented its ongoing digitalization initiatives and outlined plans for more efficient, accessible and technology-driven judicial services.
Fortinet specialists demonstrated integrated security systems and discussed advances in AI-assisted protection, centralized security management and preparations for emerging quantum-related cyber risks.
The officials also toured the company’s Executive Briefing Center and held technical discussions with cybersecurity experts.
The visit forms part of the Supreme Court’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022-2027, which seeks to modernize court operations through technology.
The SC said the exchange allowed its officials to study international cybersecurity practices and emerging solutions that could help protect judicial systems while supporting the continued expansion of digital court services.
