MANILA – The easterlies will continue to influence the country’s weather on Monday, bringing mostly fair conditions across much of the Philippines, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Despite generally sunny skies, several areas—including Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, and Palawan—are expected to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas may cause flash floods or landslides.
Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said isolated rain showers remain possible nationwide, adding that the current weather pattern may persist for at least two to three more days. No weather disturbance is being monitored for possible cyclone formation.
Sea conditions will vary, with extreme Northern Luzon expected to experience stronger winds and rougher seas, while the rest of the country will have generally calmer coastal waters.
High temperatures are forecast, with Tuguegarao possibly reaching 37°C and Metro Manila up to 35°C.
More concerning, however, is the heat index, which reflects how hot it feels when humidity is considered. PAGASA said it could climb to 44°C in Dagupan City and 43°C in parts of Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and La Union. In Metro Manila, the heat index could range from 38°C to a potentially hazardous 49°C.
