MANILA, Philippines — Rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected to continue affecting several parts of the country today and tomorrow as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remains the dominant weather system over the southern and western sections of the Philippines.
For Tuesday, October 6, Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao may experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. Some areas could see brief periods of heavy rain, particularly during thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may generally have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms during the day.
PAGASA said the weather may change quickly in areas affected by thunderstorms, with short periods of heavy rain, gusty winds and possible localized flooding.
The same weather pattern is expected to continue on Wednesday, October 7, with the ITCZ still bringing cloudy conditions and rainshowers to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Luzon, including the National Capital Region, may again experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
Residents in low-lying and flood-prone communities are advised to remain alert, particularly when thunderstorms develop. Those traveling should also monitor weather advisories and exercise caution on wet and slippery roads.
PAGASA likewise reminded the public that thunderstorms can develop rapidly and may be accompanied by strong winds and heavy rainfall even when conditions are generally fair earlier in the day.
Authorities urged residents to monitor official weather bulletins for possible changes in the forecast, particularly those planning outdoor activities or travel across the country.
