MANILA — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and northeasterly wind flow are delivering varied weather across the archipelago today, with widespread rains in the south and north, and partly cloudy skies with isolated showers elsewhere, the state weather bureau confirmed.
TODAY — THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8
– Visayas, Mindanao & Palawan: Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to occasionally heavy downpours. Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas are warned of possible flash floods and landslides . Temperatures range 24°C–32°C.
– Extreme Northern Luzon (Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora): Cloudy with rains brought by northeasterly winds; similar flood and landslide advisories apply. Highs 28°C–31°C, lows 23°C–25°C.
– Metro Manila & Rest of Luzon: Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening. Highs 30°C–33°C, lows 25°C–26°C; humid conditions making it feel 2–4 degrees warmer .
– Coastal waters: Light to moderate seas overall; portions of northern Luzon may see choppy conditions, with small craft advised to exercise caution.
TOMORROW — FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
– The ITCZ weakens slightly but continues to affect Visayas, Mindanao and Palawan, with rain showers and thunderstorms remaining likely though generally lighter and more scattered.
– Northern Luzon sees reduced rainfall as wind flow eases — partly cloudy skies with passing showers expected.
– Metro Manila and most of Luzon will be mostly fair with isolated afternoon storms; highs 31°C–33°C, lows steady near 25°C.
– No tropical cyclones are currently inside or forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
