MANILA – The Philippines may see scattered rains in various regions as Tropical Storm Nuri’s trough interacts with the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.
Nuri is currently located 1,290 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, outside the country’s official monitoring area. Its trough is expected to produce scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental. PAGASA cautioned that heavy rain could lead to flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
At the same time, the “amihan” will bring light rain to Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora, along with isolated showers across Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and the Visayas.
Mindanao will have isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms. Winds in Luzon and eastern parts of Visayas and Mindanao will range from moderate to strong, with seas expected to be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds and seas will remain mild to moderate.
