MANILA, Philippines — Dreams of a quarterfinal run at the BNP Paribas Open ended for Filipino tennis sensation Alex Eala after a straight-sets defeat to Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, 2-6, 0-6, in Wednesday’s round of 16 at Indian Wells.
Noskova, ranked world No. 14, finally overcame her junior-time nemesis, Eala, who had bested her twice in earlier encounters. The match saw Noskova dominate from start to finish, leaving Eala’s fans largely silent as the Czech showcased her precision and tactical prowess.
Though disappointed, Eala is already setting her sights on the Miami Open, where she hopes to bounce back and continue her rise in professional tennis.
