MANILA – The southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” will continue to bring rainfall across several parts of Luzon, according to the state weather bureau on Saturday.
Based on PAGASA’s 4 a.m. bulletin, intermittent rains are expected over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan due to the monsoon system.
Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are also likely over Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, much of Central Luzon, and the provinces of Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
The rest of the Philippines will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms driven by localized weather activity.
PAGASA also reported that Tropical Depression Ester continues to hold its strength while moving over waters east of Taiwan.
As of 3 a.m., the weather disturbance was located about 350 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts reaching 55 kph, moving east-northeast at 15 kph.
Northern Luzon and the western portion of Central Luzon are expected to experience moderate to strong winds and rough seas, while generally lighter conditions will prevail in other parts of the country.
