MANILA — Rain and thunderstorms are expected across the Zamboanga Peninsula and nearby areas of Mindanao on Monday as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affects the western section of the island, raising the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The affected areas include Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast.
The state weather bureau warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall could trigger flooding and landslides, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Batanes and the Babuyan Islands may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly windflow.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms associated with localized weather disturbances.
Residents in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides are advised to remain alert for changing weather conditions and follow official advisories.
