MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has strongly denied reports circulating online alleging a supposed rift between President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the country’s military leadership.
AFP West Philippine Sea spokesperson Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad described the claims, which originated from Chinese platforms, as part of coordinated influence operations meant to sow confusion and division within Philippine institutions.
He said these narratives are “blatant influence operations designed to manufacture internal division where none exists,” stressing that the AFP remains unified, professional, and fully loyal to the Constitution.
The issue surfaced following online speculation linked to the May 13 shooting incident at the Senate building in Pasay City, which some posts falsely connected to tensions within the government.
Trinidad reiterated that the AFP remains under the full command of President Marcos Jr. as Commander-in-Chief and urged the public to reject destabilizing foreign narratives and rely only on verified official information.
