MANILA – Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III on Wednesday joined the nation in honoring Eid al-Adha, extending greetings to Muslim Filipinos and emphasizing the need for unity, respect, and compassion among all Filipinos.
In a recorded message, Dy expressed his wishes for a peaceful celebration of the Feast of Sacrifice, a major Islamic observance that commemorates the faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim to God’s will.
He said the values highlighted by Eid’l Adha—faith, sacrifice, and compassion—remain essential in promoting understanding and harmony within society.
Dy underscored that despite differences in religion and culture, Filipinos remain bound by a shared identity and collective aspiration for peace and progress.
He added that the celebration should encourage greater empathy and cooperation among communities, especially in strengthening national unity during challenging times.
Eid al-Adha is one of Islam’s holiest celebrations and marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.
The national government previously declared May 27 a regular holiday in observance of the occasion.
