MANILA – Alexis Durish and Audrey Koenig moved into the Round of 16 of the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour Nuvali Challenge after defeating Ukraine’s Inna Makhno and Iryna Makhno, 21-17, 21-19, in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on Friday.
The American pair, who recently won gold at the Xiamen Challenge in China, regrouped after an earlier loss in pool play to finish second in Pool D with a 1-1 record.
Durish credited their improved execution, particularly in passing, for the victory.
They earlier fell to Ukraine’s Yeva Serdiuk and Daria Romaniuk, 17-21, 19-21, on Thursday.
Also advancing to the next round were fellow Americans Madelyne Anderson and Alaina Chacon, Canada’s Molly McBain and Ruby Sorra, Estonia’s Heleene Hollas and Liisa Remmelg, Hungary’s Lilla Villám and Stefánia Kun, France’s Lezana Placette and Alexia Richard, Ukraine’s Tetiana Lazarenko and Sofiia Kurnikova, and the Netherlands’ Nigella Negenman and Floor Hogenhout.
