
MANILA – PAGASA on Saturday warned that 44 areas across the Philippines are likely to experience dangerous heat index levels as hot and humid weather continues.
The heat index indicates the perceived temperature felt by people when humidity is combined with the actual air temperature.
According to PAGASA, the highest forecast heat index of 44°C will be recorded in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Camiling, Tarlac; Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Dumangas, Iloilo; Borongan, Eastern Samar; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
The following areas are also under danger-level heat index conditions:

PAGASA said exposure to danger-level heat indices ranging from 42°C to 51°C may result in heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
The weather bureau added that several areas may record a heat index of 41°C, including Aparri, Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; Casiguran, Aurora; Romblon, Romblon; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Dumangas, Iloilo; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental; Siquijor, Siquijor; Panglao International Airport, Bohol; Mactan International Airport, Cebu; VSU-Baybay, Leyte; Laguindingan Airport, Misamis Oriental; and Davao City, Davao del Sur.
Meanwhile, DMMMSU Bacnotan, La Union and CMU Agromet, Musuan, Bukidnon are forecast to experience a 40°C heat index.
The low-pressure area previously referred to as “Caloy” was estimated at 980 kilometers east of Central Luzon.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the frontal system affecting Extreme Northern Luzon.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA added that Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas. At the same time, other parts of the country will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
