MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. posted a modest improvement in his trust and performance ratings in the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa survey.
In contrast, Vice President Sara Duterte’s performance rating registered a slight decline, although her trust rating showed a marginal increase.
The survey results, released on Monday, indicated that 54 percent of respondents expressed trust in Marcos, while 30 percent said they did not trust him.
Conducted from March 19 to 25, the nationwide poll involved 1,200 adult respondents and carried a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
Marcos’ strongest trust rating was recorded in Balance Luzon at 59 percent, while his lowest came from Mindanao at 45 percent.
The survey also showed that 55 percent of respondents were satisfied with his overall performance. His approval ratings were relatively consistent across regions, with Balance Luzon at 57 percent, Visayas at 56 percent, NCR at 53 percent, and Mindanao at 51 percent.
Both trust and performance scores reflected a rebound from the fourth quarter of 2025, when they stood at 48 percent and 51 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, Vice President Duterte recorded a 55 percent trust rating in the first quarter of 2026, slightly higher than the 53 percent posted in the previous quarter. About 28 percent of respondents said they did not trust her.
OCTA noted that the change was statistically insignificant, as it falls within the survey’s ±3 percent margin of error.
Duterte’s highest trust rating came from Mindanao at 90 percent, while she received lower scores in Balance Luzon and the National Capital Region, both at 40 percent.
Her performance rating, however, declined to 50 percent from 54 percent in the previous survey. She scored highest in Mindanao at 83 percent, but recorded weaker ratings in Balance Luzon at 35 percent and NCR at 37 percent.
