MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. saw a slight recovery in both trust and performance ratings in the first quarter of 2026, based on the latest OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa survey.
Vice President Sara Duterte, meanwhile, experienced mixed results, with her trust rating edging upward but her performance score slipping.
Released on Monday, the survey found that 54 percent of Filipinos trust Marcos, while 30 percent expressed distrust. The poll was conducted from March 19 to 25 among 1,200 adults nationwide, with a ±3 percent margin of error at a 95 percent confidence level.
Marcos received his highest trust rating in Balance Luzon at 59 percent, while Mindanao posted the lowest at 45 percent. Overall, 55 percent of respondents were satisfied with his performance.
Regionally, his performance ratings remained above half across all areas: 57 percent in Balance Luzon, 56 percent in the Visayas, 53 percent in the National Capital Region, and 51 percent in Mindanao.
Both trust and performance figures mark an improvement from the fourth quarter of 2025, when they were recorded at 48 percent and 51 percent, respectively.
For Vice President Duterte, trust levels rose slightly to 55 percent from 53 percent in the previous quarter, while 28 percent said they did not trust her. OCTA said the change is not statistically significant, as it falls within the survey’s margin of error.
Her strongest trust rating remained in Mindanao at 90 percent, but she received lower trust levels in Balance Luzon and NCR, both at 40 percent.
Duterte’s performance rating declined to 50 percent from 54 percent previously. She posted her highest performance score in Mindanao at 83 percent, while Balance Luzon and NCR recorded lower figures at 35 percent and 37 percent, respectively.
