MANILA – The Manila Regional Trial Court has allowed Ramil Madriaga, currently in detention, to attend the House Committee on Justice hearings regarding Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment on April 14.
Judge Alma Crispina Collado-Lacorte of RTC Branch 21 approved the request, permitting Madriaga to appear at the People Center, Batasang Pambansa Complex, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., accompanied by jail escorts.
Identified as a key resource person in the proceedings, Madriaga faces ongoing kidnapping charges in the same court. The House Committee on Justice formally sought the court’s approval to secure his testimony for the determination of probable cause.
According to the March 31 letter, signed by Chairperson Atty. Gerville “Jinky” Luistro and Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III, Madriaga’s presence is essential for the continued assessment of the verified impeachment complaints against Duterte. Secretary General Cheloy Garafil attested to the request.
“The House panel will resume hearings on April 14, with Madriaga participating as a key witness,” the letter added, underscoring the detainee’s role in the ongoing proceedings.
