The Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region, together with key government partners, has launched a major initiative to promote healthy workplaces across Region I.
The partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held on March 31, 2026, at the DOH Ilocos Region conference hall.
The initiative brings together four government agencies – DOH, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Civil Service Commission (CSC), and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) – to scale up the implementation of the Healthy Workplace Framework. This collaborative effort aims to create safer, healthier, and more resilient work environments in Region I.
“By scaling up the Healthy Workplace Framework, we are investing in our workforce as a vital foundation for sustainable development and resilient communities,” said DOH Ilocos Region Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco.
The initiative addresses critical priorities such as reducing tobacco and alcohol use, preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases, and strengthening mental health support systems.
The partnership emphasizes continuous collaboration, data-driven monitoring, and sustained advocacy to ensure long-term impact.
“True progress lies not only in compliance but also in collaboration,” said DOLE Regional Director Exequiel Ronie A. Guzman.
“Through this initiative, we move beyond regulatory measures by providing support, guidance, and resources that empower establishments to create workplaces where workers can truly thrive.
The agencies will work together to build capacity, advocate for healthy workplace practices, and monitor progress.
Local governments will play a crucial role in integrating the framework into local governance, ensuring that healthy workplace practices are institutionalized across Region I.
