MANILA – Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III has called for a series of joint House committee hearings to consolidate efforts across government agencies in response to the escalating conflict in the Middle East. The hearings aim to ensure immediate relief for affected sectors, safeguard economic stability, and prepare for long-term challenges.
Dy announced that the hearings will assemble both legislative leaders and executive officials to harmonize programs and legislation addressing short-, medium-, and long-term needs.
“These joint hearings are meant to synchronize the Legislative and Executive branches’ efforts with a clear, forward-looking plan—not only for today, but for the months and years to come,” Dy said.
Set to take place after Holy Week, the sessions will cover crucial areas including energy, labor, food security, transportation, and economic affairs.
“Our objective is to work hand in hand with the Executive to find solutions, rather than assign blame,” Dy explained.
“The hearings will allow us to hear directly from our economic managers and frontliners, providing the data needed to implement measures that help our citizens weather the crisis,” he added.
The committees involved include Energy, Aquaculture and Fisheries, Foreign Affairs, Ways and Means, Labor and Employment, Transportation, ICT, Economic Affairs, and Social Services.
Dy emphasized that the findings will guide both legislative and executive actions to lessen the Middle East conflict’s impact on Filipino households.
“While we cannot control events abroad, we can control our response. What matters is that we act decisively, together, and in a prepared manner,” he said.
