MANILA — A gas cylinder explosion sparked a fire at a residential house in Sampaloc, Manila, on March 22, 2026.
The incident occurred at around 1:59 PM at house no. 1074 Paquita St, corner A. Mendoza St, Brgy 463.
According to witness Levy Lyka Carvajal, 23, she was cooking when she heard a hissing sound from the gas cylinder. The flame suddenly intensified, prompting her to evacuate the area.
A bystander helped extinguish the flames before the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) arrived at 2:09 PM.
SFO2 Michael Yalung of Sampaloc Fire Station led the response team, and the fire was declared out at 2:09 PM.
The value of the damaged properties is still being assessed.
The police are investigating the incident, and an official report will be released soon.
