MANILA – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) condemned the fatal shooting of Karen Corsino Del Valle, an engineer assigned to the Northern Samar 1st District Engineering Office, on Monday.
The department expressed heartfelt sympathies to the family and called for an immediate, comprehensive investigation into the crime.
“DPWH extends its support to Engr. Del Valle’s family and implores authorities to act swiftly to apprehend those responsible,” the statement read.
A reward of PHP100,000 has been offered by DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and former Northern Samar First District Representative Paul Daza for information that could help arrest the suspect.
Del Valle, 25, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died at the scene, while her brother was injured and remains in critical condition. Police reports indicate that the attack in Catarman, Northern Samar, may have been carried out by her former partner.
