MANILA, Philippines — Athletes and sports officials are being encouraged to learn life-saving emergency response skills as the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Bell-Kenz Pharma prepare to roll out another activity under the “Bell-Kenz Sagip CPR” campaign.
The initiative was announced at the weekly Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum held at the PSC Media Room of the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
PSC Commissioner Walter Torres led the announcement with Philippine Life Saving head Danilo “DJ” Salonga Jr. and Bell-Kenz Pharma director Patrick Larraga. They were joined by National Youth Commission Undersecretary Joseph Francisco Ortega and Dr. Alexis Dimapilis, representing the Department of Health.
Philippine Coast Guard representatives and elite national athletes are also expected to join the program.
The campaign focuses on raising awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and its role in responding to life-threatening emergencies. By providing practical training, organizers hope to help athletes, coaches and sports personnel respond more effectively when someone suffers a sudden medical emergency.
The effort also highlights the importance of safety measures beyond regular conditioning and competition, particularly in sporting venues where prompt intervention may be critical.
A hands-on training activity is scheduled for October 29, 2026, at Ninoy Aquino Stadium. Participants are expected to receive practical instruction in CPR as part of the broader effort to strengthen emergency preparedness within the sports sector.
Organizers hope the campaign will encourage wider participation in life-saving training and help build a sports community better prepared to respond when emergencies arise.
