MANILA — Philippine Airlines (PAL) has extended the suspension of its Riyadh flights through November 29, 2026, as it continues to evaluate security conditions at King Khalid International Airport.
In a statement issued Monday, the flag carrier said it was monitoring developments closely and assessing their implications for the safe conduct of its flight operations.
PAL said it would provide further updates as needed but did not specify a possible date for the earlier resumption of services.
The announcement follows reports of renewed violence affecting Riyadh’s airport. Earlier accounts said the facility came under a fresh attack Sunday, a day after a Houthi missile strike reportedly struck Terminal 4.
The reported missile attack left at least 13 people dead and hundreds wounded, according to initial reports. It was described in those accounts as Saudi Arabia’s deadliest attack in more than a decade.
The continuing security concerns have prompted PAL to maintain its suspension of flights serving the Saudi capital while it evaluates the circumstances surrounding airport operations.
The extension could affect Filipino travelers, including overseas Filipino workers and other passengers who regularly travel between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. However, the airline has not provided a detailed breakdown of the passengers affected by the suspension.
Travelers with existing reservations are advised to check PAL’s official communication channels for the latest flight information and instructions regarding their bookings.
The carrier said it would continue monitoring the situation, with further announcements to follow as circumstances warrant.
