MANILA — Police arrested a 38-year-old man wanted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 during an operation in Sampaloc, Manila, on September 24.
Arrested was Loyd Michael Tan y Arenas, alias “Lomi,” a Filipino, unemployed and resident of G. Tuazon Street, Barangay 422, Sampaloc.
Personnel of the Warrant and Subpoena Section and Intelligence Section of the Sampaloc Police Station (PS4), led by PLT Oliver E. Balingit, chief of the Warrant Section, carried out the operation at about 4 p.m. along Algeciras Street, Barangay 422, near City Savings Bank.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of PLTCOL Bryan B. Sagayadoro, station commander of Sampaloc Police Station.
Police said Tan was arrested by virtue of a bench warrant of arrest issued in connection with a case for violation of Section 11(3) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The case is docketed as Criminal Case No. R-MNL-25-00118-CR, with recommended bail set at P1,000.
The warrant was issued by RTC Branch 175 Presiding Judge Danilo D. Leyva on August 27, 2026.
During the implementation of the warrant, police said Tan was informed of the nature of his arrest and apprised of his constitutional rights in Tagalog, a language he understood. He opted to remain silent.
In compliance with Supreme Court guidelines under A.M. No. 21-06-08-SC, arresting officers used alternative recording devices, including an iPhone 15 Pro and Realme 15 Pro, to document the operation.
Police said the necessary documentation is being prepared for the return of the served warrant to the court of origin.
Tan remains detained at the Custodial Facility of Sampaloc Police Station pending further proceedings.
