MANILA — A 23-year-old man listed as an Other Wanted Person (OWP) was arrested by Manila Police District (MPD) operatives in Baseco, Port Area, Manila, on September 24, 2026, for a drug-related case.
Police identified the arrested suspect as John Adrian Perez, who was apprehended at about 3:40 p.m. in front of his residence in Block 1, Dubai, Port Area, Barangay 649, Baseco, Manila.
Operatives of the MPD District Police Intelligence and Operations Unit (DPIOU) conducted an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the service of a bench warrant of arrest against Perez for alleged violation of Section 11(3), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended.
The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 175 in Manila in connection with the pending criminal case. The court indicated a P5,000 bail recommendation.
The operation was led by PCpt. Vincent Paul M. Mercado, Assistant Chief of DPIOU, under the supervision of PMAJ Jake S. Arcilla, Chief of DPIOU, and the guidance of PCOL Robert B. Sales, Chief of the MPD District Intelligence Division.
Police said Perez was informed of the nature of the case against him and apprised of his constitutional rights under Republic Act No. 7438 in Tagalog, a language he understood. He reportedly opted to remain silent.
In compliance with Supreme Court Administrative Matter No. 21-06-08-SC, police also used two cellular phones as alternative recording devices during the service of the bench warrant.
Perez was subsequently placed under police custody and is set to be detained at the MPD Integrated Jail pending the return of the warrant to the court of origin and the issuance of a commitment order.
The arrest was documented by the DPIOU as part of its continuing intelligence-driven operations against wanted persons in Manila.
