INTRAMUROS, Manila — Beginning September 26, minimum wage earners in the National Capital Region (NCR) will receive a ₱60 daily wage increase, the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) said.
The DoLE cited that the new wage order raises the minimum wage for nonagricultural workers from ₱695 to ₱755 per day and grants the same ₱60 daily increase to agricultural workers.
According to Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino, “the wage increase reflects President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. (PBBM)’s commitment to improve the purchasing power of Filipino workers and promote inclusive economic growth as well.”
Following the established tripartite wage-setting process, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR issued Wage Order NCR-28.
Secretary Tolentino stated that DoLE will closely monitor the wage order’s strict implementation even as he warned that violators would be penalized.
The order comes as the implementation of Wage Order NCR-27, which granted an ₱85 daily wage increase in two tranches, remains under injunction by the Pasig Regional Trial Court.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission asserted that the court issued the injunction against NCR-27 in August while legal proceedings remain pending.
