MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rainy weather over parts of the Philippines today, Wednesday, with several areas in Luzon facing scattered rains and thunderstorms.
PAGASA said Zambales may experience occasional rains, with moderate to heavy downpours potentially causing flash floods and landslides. Northern Luzon is also expected to see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, accompanied by moderate to strong southwest winds.
The weather agency said areas including Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas and Rizal may experience cloudy conditions with scattered rains and thunderstorms as the Habagat continues to affect Luzon.
In the Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected, with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms possible in various areas.
PAGASA forecasts that unsettled weather will continue tomorrow, Thursday, August 27, with rainshowers and thunderstorms still possible in several parts of the country.
The agency has also issued rainfall advisories for portions of Northern Luzon, where light to moderate and at times heavy rains were being experienced. Residents in low-lying and mountainous areas were advised to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides.
PAGASA urged the public to monitor succeeding weather bulletins, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall, and to take necessary precautions in flood- and landslide-prone communities.
