MANILA, Philippines — The Southwest Monsoon, locally known as Habagat, will continue to bring rain and thunderstorms over Luzon on Thursday, with some areas facing the risk of flooding and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In its 4 a.m. forecast on Aug. 13, PAGASA said the Habagat is affecting Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over several areas.
Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Central Luzon and Camarines Norte are among the areas expected to experience rainy conditions.
PAGASA warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas that are already vulnerable to these hazards.
The weather bureau’s regional forecast also showed cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, with temperatures expected to range from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.
Northern Luzon is likewise experiencing periods of light to moderate and, at times, heavy rain in several provinces, including parts of Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet and other areas.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, as well as parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA urged residents to remain alert for sudden heavy rainfall and to monitor official weather, flood and landslide advisories from authorities.
