MANILA — Cloudy skies and intermittent rains will prevail across many parts of the country on Monday as the southwest monsoon or Habagat continues to enhance rainfall over the Philippines.
According to PAGASA, the weather system will bring scattered to widespread rains over the western portions of Luzon, including Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and parts of Western Visayas. Some areas may experience moderate to occasionally heavy downpours that could trigger flooding and landslides.
Elsewhere in the country, including most areas in the Visayas and Mindanao, generally fair weather is expected in the morning, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms developing later in the day due to localized convective activity.
The state weather bureau urged the public to remain vigilant, particularly those living in low-lying and landslide-prone communities, as heavy rainfall may occur within short periods.
Mariners and small fishing vessels have likewise been cautioned against sailing in the western and northern coastal waters of Luzon where moderate to rough seas are expected.
While no tropical cyclone has entered or is directly affecting the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said the southwest monsoon remains the dominant weather system, keeping rainy conditions over several parts of the country.
