MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that two aspirants filed their Certificates of Candidacy on Wednesday for the upcoming special polls in Cavite’s fourth legislative district.
Former Dasmariñas City vice mayor Raul Rex Mangubat became the first candidate to submit his papers, followed by Marvin Dupal-ag.
Comelec said the filing period will run until Friday, with applications accepted daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the AVR of the Socio-Economic Building (New City Hall) in Dasmariñas City.
Those seeking the congressional post may file their candidacy either in person or through a duly authorized representative. Required documents include five sworn copies of the COC and, when applicable, a Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance.
To confirm eligibility, candidates must also attach a copy of their birth certificate to the filing documents.
The Aug. 29, 2026 special election will choose the replacement for former Representative Francisco “Kiko” Barzaga, whose congressional seat was vacated after his expulsion by the House of Representatives in June for alleged misconduct and breaches of the House Code of Conduct.
