MANILA – Much of the country will experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms on Thursday due to the easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The weather bureau identified Visayas, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental as areas likely to be affected.
Metro Manila and other regions nationwide may also encounter isolated rain showers brought about by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that some of these thunderstorms could turn severe, bringing possible flash floods or landslides in affected communities.
Light to moderate winds and relatively calm to moderate sea conditions are expected across the country.
Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
As of 2 a.m., the LPA was positioned roughly 2,400 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas and carries a medium chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
If it strengthens into a cyclone, PAGASA said it may further enhance the southwest monsoon affecting the country.ia/xf
