MANILA — Rainy weather is expected to continue in several parts of the Philippines today, Tuesday, September 8, as the southwest monsoon or Habagat continues to influence weather conditions over Luzon and the Visayas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Zambales and Bataan may experience monsoon rains, with moderate to heavy and at times intense downpours possible.
Occasional rains are also forecast over Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro. Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, meanwhile, may see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable and low-lying areas. Residents are advised to remain alert, especially during periods of persistent rain.
For Wednesday, September 9, rainy conditions are expected to persist in many areas, with some locations likely to experience thunderstorms. Southern Luzon, in particular, is forecast to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
PAGASA’s outlook also indicates that temperatures will generally remain warm despite the rains, with Southern Luzon areas seeing temperatures reaching around 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.
Residents are advised to monitor official weather bulletins, especially those living near rivers, slopes and other areas prone to flooding and landslides.
