MANILA — The southwest monsoon, or Habagat, will continue to bring cloudy skies, rain and thunderstorms over parts of the country today, Friday, September 4, and tomorrow, Saturday, September 5, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Several areas in Luzon, particularly the western sections, may experience periods of moderate to heavy rain, while Metro Manila and parts of Southern Luzon may also see intermittent showers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA has warned of possible flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas as rainfall continues. A flood advisory is also in effect for several river systems in Laguna, including the Pagsanjan, Pila-Sta. Cruz, San Juan and San Cristobal rivers.
For Saturday, September 5, rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist in some areas, although conditions may vary throughout the day. Residents are advised to remain alert for sudden downpours, flooding and possible landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas.
PAGASA’s outlook indicates that the Habagat will continue affecting western Luzon and portions of the Visayas in the coming days.
The public is advised to monitor official weather and flood advisories, especially before traveling or undertaking outdoor activities.
