MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked or suspended the licenses of more than 800 motorists since October 2025 as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen road discipline and improve public safety.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said a total of 830 drivers were sanctioned during the period, with 434 licenses revoked and 396 suspended for various traffic-related offenses and violations.
According to Lacanilao, the intensified enforcement campaign forms part of the agency’s mandate to ensure strict compliance with traffic laws and reduce the incidence of road crashes across the country.
“It is part of our responsibilities to enforce traffic laws, and this is just one of the concrete achievements of the LTO,” he said.
Records from the agency showed that among the 434 revoked licenses, 325 were canceled for two years, 15 for four years, while 94 drivers received permanent revocation of their driving privileges.
Meanwhile, the 396 suspended licenses were broken down into 23 one-month suspensions, 290 three-month suspensions, seven six-month suspensions, one seven-month suspension, and 75 one-year suspensions.
The LTO said the administrative sanctions are intended to hold erring motorists accountable and serve as a deterrent against reckless and irresponsible driving behavior.
“This demonstrates the agency’s continued efforts to promote responsible driving and strict compliance with traffic laws in the interest of road safety,” Lacanilao added.
The agency has recently stepped up enforcement actions against drivers involved in serious traffic violations, including reckless driving, road rage incidents, and hit-and-run cases, as part of its broader campaign to make Philippine roads safer for motorists and pedestrians alike.
