MANILA – A mix of easterlies and localized thunderstorms is expected to bring generally unstable weather conditions across much of the Philippines on Saturday, according to the latest advisory from the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), in its early morning 4 a.m. bulletin, said most parts of the country will experience isolated rain showers that may develop at different times of the day, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
In the Davao Region, skies are expected to be mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The easterlies—winds originating from the Pacific Ocean—are supplying warm and moist air that fuels cloud formation and rainfall activity in the area.
PAGASA reminded the public that while these weather events may appear brief, they can still become intense, potentially leading to flash floods or landslides, especially in areas with steep terrain or poor drainage systems.
Further north and in the central-eastern portions of the country, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga will also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. These are expected to occur mainly in the afternoon, when heat from the sun enhances thunderstorm development.
The rest of the country will not be spared from similar conditions, as localized thunderstorms continue to form randomly due to heat and moisture buildup in the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, PAGASA noted that wind conditions across the archipelago will remain light to moderate, with seas generally slight to moderate—conditions that are still navigable but require caution for small sea vessels, especially during sudden weather changes.
