MANILA — Luis “Chavit” Singson, former governor of Ilocos Sur, was arrested on Thursday afternoon following the issuance of a cyberlibel warrant, according to a police report.
Police carried out the arrest at his home in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, inside a private subdivision.
The warrant, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Vigan City, stemmed from alleged violations of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Republic Act 10175), specifically Section 4(c) in relation to Section 6. It was dated June 10, 2026.
Bail was set at ₱60,000.
A family source said Singson did not resist arrest and voluntarily surrendered before promptly posting bail.
