No tropical cyclone threat seen, but heavy rains remain possible in northern areas
MANILA — Filipinos should continue to keep umbrellas within reach as isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect much of the country, according to PAGASA’s latest weather outlook.
The southwest monsoon is bringing scattered rains over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Zambales, where weather conditions may intensify at times and produce moderate to heavy downpours.
Authorities warned that prolonged or intense rainfall in these areas could increase the risk of flooding and landslides.
Elsewhere, including Metro Manila, localized thunderstorms are expected to trigger isolated rain showers throughout the day.
PAGASA said Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds and rougher sea conditions, while the rest of the archipelago will see relatively calmer weather, with light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
Despite the unsettled weather, the agency reported that no low-pressure area capable of developing into a tropical cyclone is currently being monitored as of early Tuesday morning.
