MANILA – The Department of Labor and Employment has issued a fresh advisory outlining compensation rules for employees during the June 12 Independence Day holiday.
According to Labor Advisory No. 11, Series of 2026, workers who render service on the regular holiday should receive 200 percent of their daily wage for the first eight hours worked.
Employees required to extend beyond their regular work schedule are entitled to overtime compensation equivalent to an additional 30 percent of their hourly holiday rate.
The labor department likewise emphasized that employees working on a holiday that coincides with their rest day must receive an extra premium on top of the mandated holiday pay. Additional overtime premiums also apply for hours rendered beyond the regular shift.
For workers who do not report for duty, holiday pay equivalent to their regular wage shall still be granted, subject to existing rules requiring attendance or approved paid leave on the workday immediately before the holiday.
DOLE noted that the benefit also covers situations where the day before the holiday falls on a company-declared non-working day or the employee’s scheduled day off, provided eligibility requirements are met.
June 12 was officially declared a regular holiday through Proclamation No. 1006 issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in observance of the nation’s 128th Independence Day.
