MANILA — The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, is expected to bring cloudy skies and widespread rainfall across large portions of Luzon and Western Visayas on Tuesday, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro are likely to experience intermittent to frequent rains due to the prevailing monsoon.
Meanwhile, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas, with weather conditions remaining unstable throughout the day.
PAGASA warned that areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall could face possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities vulnerable to weather disturbances.
In other parts of the country, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms may occur, largely driven by localized atmospheric conditions.
For coastal waters, moderate winds and sea conditions are expected over Extreme Northern Luzon. The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds accompanied by slight to moderate seas.
Authorities advised residents in affected areas to stay updated on weather bulletins and take precautionary measures against possible flooding and landslides as the southwest monsoon continues to influence weather patterns nationwide.
