MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada surrendered to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday (01 June 2026) following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Sandiganbayan in relation to the controversial flood control projects case.
Speaking before members of the media at the Senate around 4 p.m., Estrada confirmed that he would voluntarily submit to authorities after learning of the court’s order.
The senator is among those charged with plunder and violations of anti-graft laws stemming from allegations linked to government flood control projects.
“I will be proceeding now to the CIDG to voluntarily surrender myself,” Estrada said during the briefing.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division earlier ordered the arrest of Estrada and several co-accused as part of the ongoing proceedings. Authorities have yet to release additional information on the next steps in the case.
This remains a developing story.
