MANILA, Philippines — Rainy weather will persist in large parts of Mindanao and Palawan on Tuesday as the southwesterly windflow and a low-pressure area continue to affect the country, state weather bureau PAGASA reported.
Areas expected to experience scattered rains and thunderstorms include the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsksargen, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Palawan.
According to PAGASA, the trough of the low-pressure area is also bringing wet weather conditions across the rest of Mindanao.
Authorities warned residents to remain alert as moderate to heavy rainfall could cause flooding and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous communities.
The LPA was last monitored around 1,585 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao early Tuesday morning. Although still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA said it may intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
Elsewhere in the country, isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are likely due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
The entire archipelago will continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions.
