MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada has questioned the Department of Justice’s resolution on the complaints filed against him, calling the development “unjust” and raising concerns over missing supporting records.
Estrada pointed out that the Senate Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office (LBRMO) had no documentation showing that he inserted provisions into the proposed 2025 national budget.
“This is an unfortunate development. I find this baffling and unjust,” Estrada said, adding that official findings appear inconsistent with the allegations.
The senator also referenced Senator Panfilo Lacson, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, who reportedly acknowledged the relevance of the information being raised in the case.
Estrada disclosed that he filed an omnibus motion before the DOJ on May 15, seeking the reopening of the preliminary investigation related to complaints filed by the National Bureau of Investigation involving flood control projects.
He said the motion is intended to allow the submission and review of additional evidence to ensure a more thorough evaluation of the case.
Estrada emphasized that fairness and due process must guide the proceedings before any judgment is made.
