It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.

MAYPAJO, Caloocan City — Questions have now been raised as to why and how arrested volunteer driver Mel Oragon was in possession of a firearm when National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents entered the Senate premises to allegedly serve the arrest warrant against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Oragon was consequently arrested by members of the Senate Security Detachment following the shooting incident in the Senate, which, based on reports, was initiated by the suspect.
According to NBI Director Atty. Melvin Matibag, it was verified that Oragon is not their employee but only volunteered as the driver of the group deployed in the Senate.
However, observers of the shooting incident are asking why, if Oragon was merely a volunteer driver, he was permitted to carry a gun and even allowed to join the NBI agents who entered the Senate complex.
A lawyer, who opted to remain anonymous, cited that as a volunteer, the suspect had no business accompanying the NBI agents since his sole task was to be the driver of the team.
Moreover, he noted that if what Dir. Matibag clarified is true, then the question is who gave Oragon the firearm he used in the incident?
Finally, we can’t help but agree to this. We all know where Atty. Matibag is coming from and, more importantly, now that he’s with the administration, he’s gotta show his worth—as a boot or asslicker perhaps . . .
