MANILA – National University extended its dominance in UAAP men’s volleyball after overpowering Far Eastern University, 26-24, 25-22, 25-22, in Game 2 of the championship series held at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday (09 May 2026).
The victory gave the Bulldogs their sixth consecutive title and eighth overall championship, reinforcing their stronghold in the league over the past decade.
Leo Ordiales starred once again for NU, producing 24 points to lead the team to another title win. His performance earned him Finals MVP recognition, adding to his Best Opposite Spiker award.
“Our goal was always the six-peat. The award is just a bonus,” Ordiales said.
NU also leaned on a balanced effort from its roster. Jade Disquitado contributed 13 points alongside solid reception and defensive numbers, while Michaelo Buddin added eight points and strong back-row support. Team captain Peng Taguibolos anchored the defense with five blocks as part of his seven-point output.
Obed Mukaba closed out the championship with the final attack, wrapping up the match in one hour and 28 minutes.
Coach Dante Alinsunurin praised his squad’s unity, especially after a shaky start in the elimination rounds.
The Tamaraws were led by Mikko Espartero’s 17-point effort and Amet Bituin’s 10-point output, but still fell short for a second consecutive finals appearance.
In other UAAP volleyball news, University of Santo Tomas standout Josh Ybañez secured his third season MVP award, becoming the first three-time MVP in program history after topping the statistical race with 90.192 points.
