
MANILA – The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs continued their strong run in the UAAP Season 88 U19 boys’ 3×3 basketball tournament, defeating Ateneo de Manila University, 22-16, on Thursday at Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City.
Joaqui Ludovice led the charge with 13 points, including four shots from beyond the arc, as UST improved to a perfect 4-0 record and edged closer to a spot in the semifinals.
He was backed by Kirk Cañete, Jettlee Melano, and Charles Esteban, who each contributed three points.
Chasing UST in the standings are De La Salle-Zobel, National University-Nazareth School, and Far Eastern University-Diliman, all holding 3-1 records after notching victories in their respective matches.
Niño Ferrer scored 12 points to lift DLSZ past Adamson University, 21-18. NUNS leaned on Mhieko Natinga to secure a 21-15 win over University of the East, while Adrian Alagaban fired 14 points to help FEU-D defeat UPIS, 21-10.
In the girls’ bracket, NUNS dominated Ateneo with a 21-9 result, while UST overcame DLSZ, 16-10.
In U16 action, FEU-D maintained its unbeaten run at 4-0 after edging UE, 20-16, with key contributions from Dwayne Enriquez, Dwayne Cañete, and James Chavez.
UST claimed solo second at 3-1 following a commanding 22-8 victory over DLSZ, powered by Dave Regala and CJ Tabbuga’s combined 15 points.
NUNS also stunned defending champion Ateneo, 21-16, while Adamson cruised to a 21-9 win over UPIS.
DLSZ, NUNS, Ateneo, and Adamson now share identical 2-2 records in the standings.
