MANILA — The Supreme Court has required President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to file a comment on a petition calling for the disclosure of his medical information.
In its session on Wednesday, the SC took action on the petition lodged by former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, Virgilio Garcia, Juan Raña, and Raymundo Junia, naming Marcos and Executive Secretary Ralph Recto as respondents.
The Court said it was not yet giving due course to the petition but ordered the respondents to submit their comment within 10 days from receipt of notice, non-extendible.
The petition came amid circulating online claims regarding the President’s health.
Marcos has since publicly addressed the issue, even engaging in physical activities before the media, including running and performing jumping jacks.
He also challenged critics to a fitness comparison, saying, “If you think I’m sick, come exercise with me and let’s see who is stronger.”
