MANILA — The Supreme Court of the Philippines has directed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Executive Secretary Ralph Recto to submit their responses within 10 days regarding a petition that seeks to compel the President to undergo physical and mental examinations, including a hair follicle drug test.
During its session on Wednesday, April 22, the High Court took up a petition for mandamus filed by former House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, together with Virgilio Garcia, Juan Raña, and Raymundo Junia.
The petition asks the Court to require the President to undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation.
The Supreme Court clarified that it has not yet given due course to the petition.
